Chapter 7 pivots to the oppression of another group, Native Americans, who, unlike other minority groups, were not considered part of the cultural melting pot. Chapter 7 focuses on purchasing lands that sharpened longstanding animosities between settlers and Indigenous peoples on both sides of the frontier. Chapter 7 highlights tension would provoke a series of wars in the 1810s and 1820s, making Andrew Jackson, already famous for his role in the war against the British, a household name across the United States.
