Societal changes have occurred throughout the history of the United States. However, societal changes that occurred after World War II would launch a movement that is still alive. From the introduction of the television to the "smart phone", civil unrest has become a more globalized topic. Martin Luther King, Jr. stated, "Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals."
