Junior American History (also known as American Studies) is a challenging course that is meant to be the equivalent of a freshman college course. Moreover, it is the instructor's purpose to help students succeed to their full ability and potential. The course is a two-semester survey of American history through two texts, An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States and A Peoples' History of the United States. Solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote time to read and and write, are necessary to succeed. Emphasis is placed on critical and analytical thinking skills, essay writing, and an interpretation of primary and secondary sources.
